Turning the Corner
Today is one of those days where you wake up and realize the world is about to change. It's not a sudden change, unless you happen to have not watched any TV or paid any attention to anything outside your own mind for the last two years.
It's a change that we as Americans will determine, that we've spent weeks and months making up our minds over. America is at a crossroads, and we alone will decide whether our nation will take the road less traveled by. That's a future towards which either presidential candidate will lead us, though the respective futures will be different in many ways, some good and some bad.
And as I sit here on the edge of tomorrow, trying to see past the fog of time toward what lies ahead, I know two things.
First, that we are truly a blessed nation to be able to hold fate in our hands and do with it what we will. We have the chance to make this nation greater than it is or has been, or we can tear away everything on which it was built for the sake of false notions of progress and "enlightenment." But we have that choice, which makes us, if not unique, then a rare thing.
Second, I approach this day knowing, whatever comes in the end, this nation will be okay. We will be okay, because for now, we are blessed because our God is God*.
And that is enough.
*"Those nations only are blessed whose God is their Lord." -Abraham Lincoln (see also Psalms 33:12)

Okay, stepping down from the soapbox now, long enough to say, Steven, Thank you for the simple, eloquent reminder of those two facts. May the Lord bless the voters out there today to make the best choice according to their own conscience, and may He bless those elected to offices, both national and local, that they may take this nation in a direction that will fulfill the Lord's purposes, whatever they may be.
