That's the AFI list pre-2007. Then in 2007, they did a 10th anniversary version of their top ten. In that updated version, 8 movies on the list that I've seen were removed: Amadeus, Fantasia, Rebel Without a Cause, Close Encounters, Manchurian Candidate, Dances With Wolves, Frankenstein, and Patton. 15 others were also removed.

Of the twenty-three added, I've seen 7:

18. "The General," 1927
49. "Intolerance," 1916
50. "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," 2001
59. "Nashville," 1975
61. "Sullivan's Travels," 1941
63. "Cabaret," 1972
67. "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," 1966
71. "Saving Private Ryan," 1998
72. "The Shawshank Redemption," 1994
75. "In the Heat of the Night," 1967
77. "All the President's Men," 1976
81. "Spartacus," 1960
82. "Sunrise," 1927
83. "Titanic," 1997
85. "A Night at the Opera," 1935
87. "12 Angry Men," 1957
89. "The Sixth Sense," 1999

90. "Swing Time," 1936
91. "Sophie's Choice," 1982
95. "The Last Picture Show," 1971
96. "Do the Right Thing," 1989
97. "Blade Runner," 1982
99. "Toy Story," 1995

So, the math. Of the original, I've seen 36 (36% of the list). Take away the 8 (8%) removed from the list, and that leaves 28 (28%). Add back the 7 added movies, and I've seen 35 (35%). If you combine the two lists, you have a total of 123 movies, of which I've seen 43 (34.95%).

Man, I was doing better with the first list.

Of course, MY list would include things like Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Everything is Illuminated, and Field of Dreams. Oh yeah, and the top 95 spots or so would all say "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy," but I guess that list will have to wait for now.

yeah, so i'm not only catching up on my blogging, i'm catching up on my comments... of course, if you don't ever scroll down to see if new comments have been added, i guess it may not matter what i have to say, but that's not going to stop me from saying it anyway :)

you do have a pretty impressive track record, i will say- though there are some movies you haven't seen that i have, i still think you beat me overall...

and i am totally for your own list, if you remember to include Narnia somewhere on there (okay, you don't have to, but i think they deserve a spot as well...)

ah, i just love movies, too!
