Play by Play of the 5 A.M. Newscast
4:59- Did a middle aged lady really just use the phrase "Ellen is the bomb"?
5:03- Alex and Colin argue about the use of the term B.A.T.-Mobile, as a name for the Blood Alcohol Testing Vehicle used by the Missouri State Water Patrol. They argue about everything.
5:05- Alex points out the statement by a MO Water Patrolman that "they cannot prevent people from drowning." So what are they there for, then?
5:06- WOMAN THROWS BABY FROM BALCONY- is it just me or are there a lot of deadbeat parents in the news in Missouri lately?
5:11- Weather on the 1's again- is anything Chester says actually going to come true?
5:14- The Ag Report gives the price of feed- who cares? 90 cents for a February pork belly- what does that even mean?
5:15- "Spouses Selling Houses"- I would never sell house with this company. Never.
5:16- 30 seconds of KRCG's Lee Gordon rambling about some Jefferson City public schools policy. Colin sums it up- "What the hell is the point of this commercial?"
5:17- I had no idea what a heart stent was before looking it up for HealthWatch this morning. They're actually kind of cool.
5:20- Remember Zesto's? It still exists in Jeff City.
5:22- Why did Monica pronounce "Ultimatum" (as in "Bourne Ultimatum") in a weird way?
5:25- I hate Wilson's Fitness ads because they remind me of Dr. Frisby.
5:27- "to raise awareness of excellence in the growth of facial hair"- quote of the day.
5:28- I just found out that I finished my fantasy league's regular season #1! Boo-yah! Jeff's dad was #2, Jeff was #3, and (sorry, Pops) Dad came in last. But now the playoffs begin, and anything can happen.
5:31- Chester Lampkin just said there's not a drop of rain in the area, yet the radar clearly had several little green splotches on it. Hmmmmm...
5:31- Does anyone else think "splotch" is a strange word?
5:36- Police don't see a clear motive for a woman dropping a baby out a second-story window...um, how about "she's psychotic and probably had no motive other than that she's psycho?"
5:41- I really wanted Chester to break out "Blue Skies" just now.
5:44- posting...becoming..less...regular...fighting to...keep...awake...
5:45- "WITNESSES SAY THE VICTIM WAS CLOSING THE THREE MINUTE CAR WASH WHEN ONE LAST CUSTOMER ARRIVED. ANOTHER CUSTOMER, MOMENTS LATER, FOUND HIS BODY AND HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON THE SCENE." ---If this was a movie, then it would have definitely been foul play.
5:48- Can beauty school really have the title of "university?"
5:48- Thank heaven for Rick Ankiel.
5:49- Dang it all to heck for the Cubs.
5:50- Oops. Alex didn't change the script, so we just said the Tigers played yesterday (Sunday).
5:52- Monica's microphone fritzed out. If that's the worst that happens, then this will have been a good newscast.
5:54- Today's trivia question- "62 YEARS AGO YESTERDAY, JAPAN FORMALLY SURRENDERED TO THE UNITED STATES ABOARD AN AMERICAN BATTLESHIP IN TOKYO BAY. WHAT IS THE NAME OF THAT BATTLESHIP?" My guess = "U.S.S. Missouri."
5:56- I was right. ^^
5:58- I think the KRCG backpacks look a little goofy.
5:58- Time for lunch/breakfast.
